Birth Doula NYC
I am Brooklyn-based but offer birth doula support and birth photography throughout all of NYC including Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, Bronx, Staten Island, and beyond. Birth is a deeply private, personal, and significant moment in life which is why it's so important that we have a great connection to work together. I meet with potential clients in your home or online for an informational meeting, free of charge, where you can ask questions about my role and decide if I feel like a good match to be a part of your birth team.
Once hired as your birth doula, I will:
Be available by phone/text/email for informational/emotional support
Meet with you for two extensive prenatal meetings
First meeting early on to get our relationship started, answer questions about birth, postpartum, gear (strollers, babywearing, breastpumps, etc.), and begin to lay the groundwork for a wonderful birth
Second meeting at 37 weeks when you are in your due date range. We have an in-depth discussion making a final plan for birth and cover all scenarios and logistics. I also answer any last questions about birth/postpartum, while also doing a final check at home to make sure you're set and ready
Be on call to attend your birth from week 37 of your pregnancy until you deliver
Have contact with you during early labor and join you when you decide you would like my support
Attend your labor continuously and provide physical and emotional support until your baby is born
Advocate for your care throughout the birth
Remain with you for 1-2 hours postpartum, assisting with initial breastfeeding and answer any initial postpartum questions
Come for an extensive postpartum visit within the first week after delivery. If you've had a hospital birth, I aim to visit you the day after you come home from the hospital so that I can help you get settled in, teach you how to breastfeed in different positions around your home, and help make a plan to get rest and recuperate
If there are lingering postpartum issues, provide referrals to specialists to help work out any issues. Even if problems arise months down the road, if you're struggling, please let me know. I don't want any of my clients to ever feel lost or without support. You're always welcome to call/text/email me for help!
I've attended over 200 births, making me a senior-level doula, very experienced birth photographer, and my care throughout the process greatly reflects my depth of knowledge.
